3 out of 5 stars The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night   June 3, 2009
I enjoyed this game. But -- After owning and playing Zelda, I guess I am spoiled to the better graphics and much better control handling. Many places in the game, there should have been better target control with flying Spyro, and other game movements. I have this for the Wii Systema and I felt like I was struggling to have efficient control over the character. For one thing, if you miss a vital token, it would be nice to be able to return to previous areas that have been played to replay or retrieved missed items. You can do this in Zelda and it makes for a better game.

It is a nice family created game and I hope they continue with sequels and improving grapics, game control movements, and longer game play. I will purchase the sequels for the Wii.

3 out of 5 stars A bit too hard   January 6, 2009

If the toughness of the game didn't hang you up in one spot seemingly indifinetly it would be great. Maybe I'm just not a good gamer, but it would be more fun if you could keep moving forward in the game.

1 out of 5 stars Big disappointment for Spyro fan   October 5, 2008

First of all, terrible acting. I don't know why Elijah Wood agreed to these terrible lines and weak, unimaginative plot. Billy West as Sparks is just annoying. The audio is badly recorded with some characters being very loud while others are difficult to hear.

Next, almost no puzzles (which is what I loved about the first ones), but tons of melee battles that are just difficult enough that they're more irritating than fun. And the graphics just aren't cool enough to make up for it. Terribly unimaginative level design, with the few puzzles just eating your time rather than flexing your brain.

Then the scenery is quite dark and has very bad camera angles. Every start point has long and annoying cut scenes that will have you ready to throw your Wii-mote and nun chuck in frustration every time you mess up and have to start over. The controls aren't that great or intuitive either.

In the end, if you do decide to play this game, Save yourself some pain; rent first. And make sure you have a game cube or classic controller, because I just didn't have any fun at all with the Wii-mote/nun chuck.

1 out of 5 stars Where's the Spyro I loved?   June 21, 2008

Okay I'm going to start off by saying that I have played 5 out of the 7 Spyro games I know of. The first three for the original PS and Enter the Dragonfly as well as A Hero's Tail. I found that I loved these games until Insomniac quit being involved in making them and Universal/Vivendi took over. A Hero's Tail was better than Enter the Dragonfly which had so many bugs and not enough of the subworlds I was accustomed to.
I bought this game figuring maybe, just maybe Universal had listened to the customer's who said they miss the Spyro from the original games but no, they didn't listen.
This game is the polar opposite of the Spyro games for PS in that all you do is walk a little, kill some enemies, walk a little more and.... you guessed it kill some enemies. There's no collecting of items just fighting. If I wanted a game that only involved fighting I'd buy Mortal Kombat (which I loved back in the day). This game was so boring and disappointing I didn't finish it. It was a waste of my money and I'd sell it but I do not want to torture anyone with a game this boring. If you like fighting games then this is for you but if you've been a fan of the Spyro series from the beginning you're probably going to say the same thing I did and that is that this game stinks. Please, Universal, listen to the customers if you plan on making anymore Spyro games and if not, then just quit making them because these last few games are horrible!

4 out of 5 stars The Legend Of Spyro   January 14, 2008

I bought this for my 12 year old, daughter. She is fascinated, challenged and frightened by it, all at the same time. This is her first experience with Wii. It took her a few hours and at first it was a bit frustrating to figure out all the different aspects of the game, and how to use the nunchuk to conrol Spyro. She has it down now and even though she knows how to control Spyro, it still is challenging, fun, and frightening.
