1 out of 5 stars Hopping to use the nunchuck   October 30, 2008

Okay i played this game many time but after one week the only thing that i learned is left and right
Okay the graphisms are awsome, the story is alright but could be better ( well the story is unanimated, it means it s like reading a manga story and hearing some voice) i was realy hopping to see sonic to move everywhere, well anyway.
Now come the truth.

The awsome gameplay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The game play remain in two words: "left" or "right"
For the new generations it is a joke. I prefer much better the sonic on xbox 360 ( it s more fun than going only left or right), Despite that the sonic on xbox 360 was not like the old sonic on gamecube.
The gameplay could realy be more complete than that. ( if you want to learn how to turn left or right i think this is the game for you)
I think that sega was so pissed off and wanted to do the gameplay realy simple and didn t want to complicate their life for the gameplay.

For the levels it s realy awsome!!!
YOU KNOW WHAT IS AWSOME WITH THE LEVELS? IS YOU CAN DO A DIFFERENT LEVEL BUT YOU WILL STILL STAY IN THE SAME MAP!!!.
What the hell, they could put more maps then keeping repeting the maps a million times after that you get over it and you say that game is going back to where it was.
But it s important to know that you have different things to do. For example if you do the principal quest in a map you will have an other objective like collecting the rings on the same map. ( sometimes we don t realy know what to do and going through the map again a million time)

Well anyway sonic the secret of the rings is realy good in graphics, the sounds ( nothing special), the gameplay AMAZING(it is a joke for the new generation)!!! and the graphisms are realy good.

If the gameplay could be not a mess and we could use the nunchuck i think the game could be way better

2 out of 5 stars Poor music, poor story.   October 25, 2008
The first thing that annoys me of the game is it's music. The game is about the one thousand and one nights arabian stories, and the soundtrack of the game is only one song of rock n' roll (for all the game!!), that has nothing to do with the game and ambientation. It doesn't has any options for changing or turning off the music. I like sonic games, but this one i didn't like.

2 out of 5 stars Stay Away.   October 5, 2008
My how the mighty have fallen. What have they done to Sonic the Hedgehog? I bought this game under the impression that it would be a fun divergence from the traditional Sonic game. I was wrong.

The basic concept is simple: Sonic moves forward on a pre-set course through each level. Holding the Wii-mote horizontally, you control his turning, jumping, and slowing down. Apparently, you can even go backwards. But, like many things, it may sound fine on paper, but the final product is a failure.

The controls are terrible. They don't respond well at all. Many times, while trying to reverse (by leaning the controller back), Sonic would actually move forward faster, or even jump. Attempts to use the homing attack often received the same treatment. This makes for a very frustrating experience. It's a waste of time reversing step by agonizing step to attempt to get something you missed on the way through the course, as this ruins your final time, making each course one you will more than likely repeat. And it won't be any fun the next time you play it either.

Steer clear of this game. The slow pace, less than interesting story, and horrible control system makes this game everything a Sonic game shouldn't be. It's nothing like any Sonic game you've ever played, and that's NOT a good thing. Let's just pray SEGA never releases another game like this again.

3 out of 5 stars Mediocre sonic game.   September 1, 2008
I dont own a wii or this game but I play it at my aunts house when I go, when i first played it was fun then I had to do the same level over, and over, and over, and over, and over again, that just got annoying,
If I ever get a wii I wouldnt buy it, its way too repetitive if you play it everyone in awhile its fun but to own it and play the same level over and over, etc to unlock the next level it isnt fun
i know the mario games have that(super mario 64, sunshine, galaxy) but its different, ,ario games were somewha like that it works better with mario and its not as repetitive, so I wouldnt recoment buying the game maybe just maybe renting.

3 out of 5 stars Sonic's speed fails to impress   August 24, 2008
One day, long ago, in a world of 16 bit wonder, Sonic meant fun, blistering speed. Now it just seems to mean big fat money signs for the publisher (which unfortunately doesn't benefit us gamers). It comes with the prerequisite party games in addition to the single player and training mode.

The multiplayer games were actually decent, but hard to justify purchase when the main game is so frustrating. The real problems start with the training mode. Through poor design, the object of each training level is given briefly, leading to unnecessary fumbling to figure out what should be extremely simple. To make matters worse, there is even a training level that can not be completed. I know, because out of sheer stupid determination, I tried again and again and again. Whatever it was that needed to be accomplished was lost on me. Giving up on the training mode, I jumped heartily into the game, discovering that this game ran on a rail. A very narrow one at that. Unfortunately for looks, the designers opted to make it look like there was no rail that you were confined to so there are countless times that you will veer one way or the other to avoid the enemy only to find that you are shoved right back into the way of the baddy to lose all of your hard earned rings. Then you must build up speed again which in the 2D version of Sonic was not nearly as aggravating as it is in this version. Which means one of the main allures of Sonic is lost, as you are constantly tripped up by baddies and forced to regain your speed and rings at a maddingly slow pace.

I put up with all of this, but I think I lost it when I found out that you have to replay a level over and over with different missions before you can advance to another level, without any real explanation as to what needs to be done. Meaning the little feeling of triumph you had at finishing the level melts as you realize you will have to do it again, and again and again.
