It's like being at a county fair, without the smells January 2, 2009 Here are the basics: Over 30 games in a Carnival or County Fair theme. Single or multiplayer (up to four). Uses the standard Wii controller.
You begin by creating a character: You do NOT use your Mii in this game. You select gender and age, then create a face, add clothes, hats, etc. You can add additional clothing by trading tickets (you win these by playing games), or by unlocking special clothing and accessories during game play. Some of these accessories include pirate garp, elephant shoes, lazer gun, party hat, hard hat, and more. It can actually get rather ridiculous the crazy things you can dress your character up in.
In single player mode you have all main games available to you. You select which lane of the midway you want and each one has four main games, two super games (you have to unlock), and then an additional game that requires tickets to play.
Main Game examples: Ski ball, basketball toss, dart throw, ring toss, coin toss, football throw, baseball and milk bottles, hole in one, and much more. Each time you win a game you get one of three prize sizes based on how well you did. You can trade up these prizes if you get enough of them to unlock one of two super games in each section of the midway.
Super Game examples: If you get enough prizes in the main ring toss game you can unlock super ring toss. Super games do NOT give you prizes or tickets, they only give you "high score" abilities within the game.
Side Game examples: Love Meter, The Claw (try to get a toy prize from the machine). These games take tickets to play them and will sometimes win you tickets back or a small prize that you can add to your collection.
There are over 250 virtual prizes you can win in the game. Most of them are little stuffed animals or trinkets like you might see at a normal county fair. It's actually rather entertaining to see what they are - dinosaurs that growl, cop cars that wail with a siren, etc.
Secret Unlocks: Occassionally you will see a flying saucer go across the screen - if you click it you unlock a special clothing accessory. Same with groundhogs that pop up out of the ground, or a monkey out of a barrel. Look for these "out of place" items and click them as fast as you can.
Controller: The controller is well used in this game. Holding it like a dart, overhand throws, underhand tosses, angled left and right like a steering wheel, and much more. It really takes advantage of the accelerometer features - especially in the test of strength when you have to vigorously shake the controller to "build up strength" before you slam the mallet onto the platform.
For the new price (which recently dropped), this is an excellent single player game or party game where you can go head to head or in competition mode with up to four players. Competition mode randomly chooses 5 games for you to compete in, while head to head allows you to select which game you want to challenge someone to.
Fun for the whole family, with cute graphics, sounds, and vocals from the variety of "carnie" characters.
Tons of Fun For All Ages! December 29, 2008 I received this as a gift for Christmas on Christmas day when all of my family was over. We were at first unsure how to play the games, but once we got into it, my whole family was playing. My 81 year old gramps was even getting the hang of it!
There are tons of different games to choose from on this disc. If the basket toss or balloon pop isn't your thing, why not try the target practice, horse racing, milk bottle knock over, or tons of others. It's well worth the price, whatever you end up paying. $30 or even $40 dollars for a Wii game loaded with PLENTY of things to keep you busy. I like that!
I now prefer playing this game rather than spending my hard-earned money at a carnival in town. All those times you would normally keep paying dollar after dollar...now all you use here is imaginary tickets. Okay with me!
FANTASTIC GAME FOR ALL AGES December 29, 2008 This is a fantastic game that the whole family can play together. There is so much to do it never gets old. Just to name a few games, there is alley ball, test your strength, milk bottle throw, darts, dunk tank and so much more. All of the games use the motion senser in the controller. You can play solo or multiplayer up to 4 people. This is a very good game and I give it 5 stars.
Carnival Games December 29, 2008 I bought this game for my niece for Christmas after a coworker recommended it. We spent over an hour exploring the different options yesterday. As boardwalk game players, it was great fun for both of us. Some of the games are just as frustrating to win as they are in real life. Highly recommended.
A Very Entertaining Game December 28, 2008 My wife is a elementary school teacher and this game was recommended by some of her students. We bought the WII for my wife's mother who is 80 years old. She loves playing this game with her granddaughter. The game has various levels or "areas" of a carnival. Duck Shoot, Dunk Tank, Fortune Teller are just a few. I would recommend this game to anyone. Item arrived sooner than expected.
