5 out of 5 stars You Need it if You Wii Gets Overheated   November 26, 2008
Greetings. For those Who still believe Wii doesn't get Overheated, it's enough to do some Google Searching about this Topic to see by ourselves the risk of high temperatures during game playing, specially if you leave your Console in standby mode ( when the Orange light is turned on ). If you play no matter what time, the Wii fan will cool the Unit ( which is fine ), but in standby mode the Builtin fan turns off and there is where the Wii gets Overheated.

Some people's review even mention that Wii don't have a fan. The thing is that the internal little fan makes no such noise that you even don't notice there is one. This external Nyko fan indeed makes a noticeable noise, But I Believe is because It is placed Outside of the Wii, unlike the builtin Fan that makes almost no noise because it is placed INSIDE of the unit and no noise can come out.

So if you use to keep your Wii in Standby mode, the problem is that the internal fan turns itself off. With this Nyko Fan, Even if the Wii stays in Standby mode, the Nyko fan remains on. So if you Turn your TV off, then you will hear the noise like a zzumm. If this little zumm bothers you, the best thing you can do is to Turn the Wii completely off ( with the Red light on ) and no harm will happen to the Wii.

For those who like to keep the Wii always turned on or in Standby mode, this gadget will help. If the little Noise the fan makes bothers you, turn the Wii Off and that's it. Anyway, I decided to buy this fan, because I don't want anything bad happen to my Wii Console by getting overheated. As an electrical device, it has a range of normal temperature operation and you must know that a device such as Wii or a Computer, Without any cooling system, the inside of any of these equipments can get up to 80-90 degrees celcius, hot enough to damage any component.

So, it's not expensive, It's pretty Cheap and you better Think about the investment you have made by having a Wii: a Home wireless network, 2-3 remotes, several Disk Games, Wiiware games you have downloaded, etc.. Then you will see that it becomes necessary.

Thanks

2 out of 5 stars It's like having x-ray vision but getting cancer from it.   November 2, 2008
The Nyko Wii Intercooler does what it says it does - cool down your wii, even when it's on standby - and it's very good at that. There is one huge problem that I have with it, which made me plug it in once, then take it out and never use it again - the noise it makes. It's extremely loud and makes a high-pitched buzzing noise. It is very distracting and I can't even pay attention to the game with it on. I will never use this again, I'll probably sell it.

4 out of 5 stars Good results for a good price   October 6, 2008

I ordered this accessory online to boost another purchase over $25 (to get the free shipping). I liked that it was cheap and that the other reviews were good. Be warned, this product looks extremely dinky when it arrives, as it only covers the fan opening in the back of the Wii (maybe 2" x 2"). However, it is extremely effective in keeping it cool, and should add life to your system. Definitely worth the purchase!

Keeps your Wii nice and cool. Like most have said, the main defect of Wii's is that the internal fan does not adequately cool the Wii. And this lil guy does! Yeah, it's a lil loud the first week or two, and sometimes when you fire up the Wii is sounds like it is grinding...just turn the Wii off then back on, or jiggle the fan itself...no biggie! Again, as for the noise of the fan, i am usually listening to music or playing with friends so it is not an issue...but keeping my Wii investment nice and cool is an issue. And that's why i got this lil guy!

This product does exactly what it says it'll do. It keeps my Wii nice and cool even after long hours of playing. My only complaint is that when you are not playing, if you leave your wii on (even in stand-by mode) it can be a little noisy. Totally worth it though...why not save your Wii for just a few dollars.
